Biography

Harshal joined Visa Research in August 2021 as a Senior Software Engineer and currently serves as a Staff Research Scientist. He holds a master’s degree in information security from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s degree from the Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology. Prior to joining Visa, Harshal interned at the Indian Space Research Organisation, where he worked on Shamir’s Secret Sharing Scheme. He has also been part of the Visa Research team that participated in the PETs Prize Challenge co-sponsored by NIST and NSF, earning a Special Recognition Award for an innovative solution.

As a member of the Advanced Cryptography team, Harshal’s research interests broadly span cryptography, with a focus on making secure multi-party computation protocols more practical and efficient for real-world use cases. He has published research in leading cryptography venues, including Public Key Cryptography (PKC) and ACSAC workshops.
