Biography
Dr. Sikhar Patranabis joined Visa Research as a Staff Research Scientist in November 2020. Sikhar received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from IIT Kharagpur, India in 2019. Prior to joining Visa Research, Sikhar was a postdoctoral researcher in the Applied Cryptography group at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Switzerland.
As a member of the Security team, Sikhar’s research interests span all aspects of cryptography and security, with special focus on cryptographic foundations, database encryption, and the design and implementation of real-world cryptographic protocols. He has published research papers in several international conferences and journals including the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR) Crypto, IACR Eurocrypt, IACR Asiacrypt, Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Conference on Computer and Communications Security (CCS), Network and Distributed System Security Symposium (NDSS), ACM/IEEE Design Automation Conference (DAC), and ACM Special Interest Group on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (SIGKDD).
Sikhar’s research works have received nearly 400 citations. He is the recipient of the IBM Ph.D. Fellowship award (2016 and 2017) and the Qualcomm Research Innovation Fellowship award (2017).
