Our purpose
Visa’s purpose is to uplift everyone, everywhere. We’re building an environment where diverse backgrounds and perspectives are celebrated and drive success inside our company and out in our communities.
Taking action to build a more diverse and inclusive workplace and world.
By welcoming employees from all walks of life, we’re creating a workplace that celebrates every individual. It’s not only making a better Visa, it’s making a better world.
Visa’s purpose is to uplift everyone, everywhere. We’re building an environment where diverse backgrounds and perspectives are celebrated and drive success inside our company and out in our communities.
We use the power of our brand, industry influence and collective voice to spark positive change in the communities we work and live in.
At Visa, men and women earn the same pay for the same work globally, and the same is true for underrepresented employees and their white peers in the US. Visa signed the Equal Pay Pledge in 2016 to show our commitment to closing the U.S. gender wage gap, joining other companies to form Employers for Pay Equity to look inside our own walls to make sure Visa is an environment where everyone can thrive.
Visa is committed to investing in the leaders of tomorrow. The Visa Black Scholars and Jobs Program, in partnership with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), is a program designed for college-bound Black and African American students in the United States. Eligible high school seniors applying or intending to pursue a business or technology undergraduate degree at any four-year accredited college or university in the U.S. can receive a needs-based scholarship grant of up to $20,000/year. Scholars will also receive mentorship from Visa employees, year-round training, and have opportunities to grow their key technical, professional and leadership skills.
At Visa, we say love is accepted everywhere. We have received a 100% score on the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index since 2015, and are proud to be known as a “Best Place to Work” for LGBTQ+ equality. We also joined major U.S. corporations in urging the Supreme Court to strike down laws prohibiting same sex marriage.
We are actively looking for trailblazers and risk takers of all kinds. Our dedicated Talent Acquisition team works closely with progressive organizations that support students, women and ethnic minorities in order to bring top talent into the Visa family.
It takes all of us to make Visa a place where everyone feels they belong. So, we provide our people with tools and training to become more aware and informed professionals… and people.
Our Executive Committee is responsible for overseeing our diversity and inclusion efforts together with our CEO and Chief Diversity Officer & Head of Corporate Responsibility. At least quarterly, the Committee meets to review, recommend and develop opportunities to enhance our Inclusion & Diversity initiatives, model diverse and inclusive behaviors and drive accountability for our programs and results.
Our Inclusion & Diversity College within Visa University includes tools, trainings and resources to help employees become more aware and informed. It’s available to every employee, everywhere.
We also introduced Unconscious Bias Training to help identify and eliminate hidden stereotypes and biases. And all people managers are encouraged to complete Inclusive Leadership Training to drive inclusion on an individual, team and company level.
